Opera Is Not "Musical Spinach"

Where have I heard THAT before?
“Summertime,” the famous song heard in Act I, has been used in quite a few movies over the years. Some include "A Walk On The Moon" (1999), "Chocolat" (2000), "Hart’s War" (2002), "I’ll Be There" (2003) and "Stuck On You" (2003).

Conversation Starters:
In 1936, when Porgy & Bess was performed at the National Theater in Washington, D.C., the cast protested segregation among the audience. This action caused the management to relent, resulting in the first intergrated performance of any show at the National Theater.

Did you know?
“Summertime” vies with The Beatles’ “Yesterday” as one of the most popular cover songs recorded.
