Opera Is Not "Musical Spinach"
We’ve said it, time and again: opera is not “musical spinach.” Yes, it’s nutritious, substantial even, but you don’t have to hold your nose and swallow. Opera is consistently entertaining, both onstage and off, and occasionally, it’s downright outrageous. Need proof? Check out these Fun Facts.

Where have I heard THAT before?
A heavy-metal rendition of Verdi's Macbeth is featured in Dario Argento's 1987 film, "Opera" - the story of an young opera singer stalked by a serial killer.

It's also featured in Woody Allen's film "Matchpoint" (2005) during which "O figli, O figli miei!" is sung by the iconic tenor Enrico Caruso.

Conversation Starters:
The title of a Ray Bradbury novel, "Something Wicked This Way Comes," is taken from a line in Macbeth.

In the Harry Potter books, The Weird Sisters is the name of a magical rock band?

William Faulkner's masterpiece, "The Sound and The Fury," is taken from Macbeth's famous speech in Act Five, Scene 5?

Did you know?
Macbeth is so rife with superstition that it is often referred to as “The Scottish Play” and it is said to be bad luck if the name of the play is spoken inside the theater for fear that it will cause the production to fail and cause physical injury, or worse, to cast members.
