 The Dallas Opera is proud to announce the launch of a new era in North Texas opera: the 51st International Season, consisting of five popular productions (including one brand new), several of which haven’t been seen in a generation.
The “51st International Season: Death by Diva!” will also mark the return of one of the most sought-after singers of our time, soprano Renée Fleming, for a special gala concert event in November.
The 2007-2008 Season opens with a thrilling new Dallas Opera co-production of Giuseppe Verdi’s MACBETH, starring Russian soprano Tatiana Serjan as Lady Macbeth and Italian baritone Alberto Gazale in the title role, in their American Stage debuts.

As we celebrate Volunteer Appreciation Week, we’d like to thank the hundreds of volunteers who invest thousands of hours each season to ensure The Dallas Opera runs as smoothly and as flawless as possible. Whether you serve on a board or committee or work in the Box Office during performances, we appreciate your efforts! |
 The Dallas Opera Guild’s nineteenth annual competition for young opera singers, The Dallas Opera Guild Vocal Competition, honoring Sandra and Bill Sanderson, recently awarded ten outstanding Texas-based singers more than $19,000 in prize monies.
A recent graduate of Southern Methodist University, 23-year-old soprano Valerie Vinzant won First Prize after the lithe beauty in the red evening gown wowed judges with a finals round performance comprised of selections from Massenet’s Manon (“Gavotte”) and Handel’s Giulio Cesare (“V’adoro pupille”).
Ms. Vinzant, from Spring, Texas, is also a St. Louis District Winner of the prestigious Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and has performed locally.

 The primary goal of The Dallas Opera’s “Opera in a Box” is to introduce opera to students and help give them an appreciation and insight into opera as an art form. Many schools do not spend a great deal of time teaching the arts and TDO’s mission is to see that change. With increasing budget cuts for arts education in the schools, TDO’s
Educational Series directly addresses this vital and growing need.
The Dallas Opera serves the entire North Texas region through educational programs that enlighten and inspire. From touring performances for youngsters, to the School Performances Program for elementary and middle school students, to training university vocal students, TDO provides an educational avenue for all age groups.

The Curtain Up For Volunteers event was a lovely afternoon of champagne, wine, and hors d’œuvres at the beautiful Martin Lawrence Galleries in the Dallas Galleria on March 25th. This special event was designed to pay tribute to Guild members for their countless hours of service each season in support of The Dallas Opera. The afternoon also provided an elegant venue to introduce new Guild members to the rest of the group, allowing a chance to chat leisurely before the flurry of next season begins.
