DID YOU KNOW? According to "The People’s Almanac," some religious sects have objected to using Lohengrin’s “Bridal Chorus” (Here Comes the Bride) as a wedding march because of the sexually oriented scene during which it is performed. The “Bridal Chorus” is sung as Lohengrin and his new wife, Elsa, enter the bridal chamber to celebrate their wedding night. Despite the “risqué” scene, Princess Victoria, daughter of Queen Victoria, and Prince Frederick William of Prussia used the piece as their wedding march in 1858 and it has been a tradition ever since. | |
