"The Magic of Mozart" Ball -- an enchanted evening!
The Dallas Opera hosted a glorious celebration of the season finale, The Magic Flute, as well as the 250th birthday of the greatest genius in Western Music: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, at "The Magic of Mozart," The 2006 Dallas Opera Ball. This glamorous and festive evening involved Cocktails, Silent Auction, Dinner and Dancing at Brook Hollow Golf Club. This annual fund-raiser for The Dallas Opera, conducted this year in loving memory of the late Juanita Miller, took place Saturday, March 4, 2006.
This year's hugely successful ball ultimately will support a variety of programs, audience outreach and educational initiatives of The Dallas Opera. An appropriate goal, even as it honored the unparalleled business, philanthropic, civic and cultural contributions of Texas legend and Honorary Chair Raymond D. Nasher; and recognized Martin J. Weiland, Chairman of the Board of The Dallas Opera and President and CEO of Northern Trust, for his dedicated service to The Dallas Opera. The Magic of Mozart was co-chaired by Kathy and Rodney Woods ($50,000 underwriters who hosted a spectacular Opera
Ball Launch Party earlier this season) and by Nancy and Lowell Duncan. Major underwriters included Dawson/Duncan ($50,000) and Gene and Jerry Jones ($25,000 level).
Event Production was by Tom Addis Productions and The Garden Gate. Thank you to everyone who helped make "The Magic of Mozart" ball a spectacular success!

Mozart's Birthday Bash - A Smashing Success
The Dallas Opera and Radio Disney hosted several hundred children and their parents on a cold Saturday afternoon at The Music Hall.
The rain and bone-chilling wind couldn't put a damper on the excitement and energy brewing inside the Music Hall! Children tried on costumes, had their faces painted, explored backstage, and were enchanted by Mozart's greatest hits performed by TDO Orchestra and singers from the Emerging Artists Program. No one left empty-handed thanks to goody bags, TDO posters, and drawings for a variety of prizes. Special thanks to John Eagle Dealerships for making this event possible.

Magical End to the 2005-2006 Season!
"There are three stars in the Dallas Opera's Magic Flute...One is British fashion designer Zandra Rhodes, who supplies a whole fantasy world of glittery, iridescent costumes...The vocal stars are Roberto Saccà as the prince Tamino and Jane Jennings as the princess Pamina. Mr. Saccà sings gorgeously, with a telling range of vocal color and texture and a caressing way with phrases. Sets by Michael Hampe and Alberto Andreis are nicely evocative, and Marie Barrett's lighting is sheer magic," Scott Cantrell, The Dallas Morning News
"Every aspect of this production of Mozart's The Magic Flute... feels charmed. And that is about the only way to explain how its voices, costumes and sets could be so supernaturally good.... All in all, it was a fittingly eye-popping and ear-caressing exclamation point for this season, which has to go down as one of its best in recent years," Punch Shaw, Star-Telegram |
