TDO's School Performances Program
Begun in the 1960’s as a field trip to the opera for students, The School Performances Program has expanded to include interdisciplinary curriculum that supports standardized, state-mandated educational objectives for music, math, social studies, and language arts. The School Performances for 2009-2010 will be Madame Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini at the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House at the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $9.50 for students and teachers. The special two-hour performances of Madame Butterfly will feature English translations above the stage, enabling the audience to understand the words as they are sung.
