Beat the Texas Summer heat with TDO’s Baritones & Beachballs events! Just because the TDO season has ended, doesn’t mean the opera fun does. TDO hosts a series of events from June to August, and each month we focus on one of the operas for the upcoming season in a variety of different ways.

Discussion Series

Dr. Stephen Dubberly, who is consistently praised by patrons for his wit, enthusiasm and insights, will deilver an in-depth talk about the music of the opera of the month, and how it relates to the other masterpieces by the composer. He’ll be joined by General Director and CEO Keith Cerny or Artistic Director Jonathan Pell.
Don’t miss this entertaining exploration of these maestros and their unforgettable music.

Movie Screenings
Each month TDO screens a different movie related to one of the upcoming TDO operas in partnership with the Dallas Film Society. All Baritones & Beachballs Movie Screenings are FREE! TDO and the Dallas Film Society provides the movie — you provide the popcorn!
All movies will be shown at Studio Movie Grill at Royal Lane (11170 N. Central Expwy, Dallas, 75243). Doors open at 7pm; movie begins at 7:30pm.

Eat. Drink. Learn. Series
Do you enjoy learning about food and wine? Then our Eat. Drink. Learn. experiences are for you! What better way to enjoy a lecture about an upcoming TDO opera than to do so while sampling food and wine associated with that opera? Sample Cheese and Wine and Scardello Artisan Cheese. Sip, swirl and savor wine and small bites at Komali Contemporary Mexican Cuisine; learn how to prepare the food from the region of the opera or country of the composer with a local celebrity chef at Central Market Cooking School Plano. We have it all for you at a nominal cost! TDO brings the educational experience full circle, and we’ll focus on a different opera each month.

Late Nights with the Opera
With the Dallas Museum of Art, The Trammel & Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art and Nasher Sculpture Center — Join us as we jump into the fun of Late Nights at the Museums, partnering with the Dallas Museum of Art, the Trammel and Margaret Crow Collection of Asian Art, and Nasher Sculpture Center. Each month will focus on an opera, including a lecture by Dr. Stephen Dubberly, live performance component, and a private tour given by museum staff. Designed for you to enjoy all three segments as a whole or individually.
