There is a lot happening on the stage — and we don’t want you to miss a thing. TDO has a variety of ways that you can expand your opera knowledge and maximize your experience at Dallas Opera performances. Whether it is online learning or a lecture, TDO has something for you.
Student Programs

The Dallas Opera is committed to bringing arts education programming to the students of North Texas. TDO offers a variety of programs to meet the needs of students from 4th grade through college. Whether TDO goes to your school or students attend a performance at the Winspear Opera House, each TDO Student Education Program includes TEKS-aligned curriculum materials and comprehensive teacher training to take your students’ opera experience beyond the stage and into the classroom.
| Student Performances |
Student Performances take place at the Winspear, are under an hour with no intermission, and audience members are free to leave the performance as needed. They’re a perfect students’ introduction to the opera. |
| Touring Opera |
TDO2go brings opera to you and your students. TDO2go is ideal for groups of 100+ students. TEKS aligned curriculum and comprehensive Teacher Trainings are available. |
| Music Studies |
TDO Skillsets gives students an opportunity to experience first-hand what it takes for TDO to put an opera on the stage. Area high school and college music and drama teachers are invited to bring their students to a series of events focusing on different elements of opera creation. At each event, students have the opportunity to watch a portion of a working rehearsal followed by a Q&A session with a singer, conductor, director or a member of the production team. |
| After-School |
TDO in a Suitcase brings visual arts projects and musical activities to engage your students in the classroom, library or at your local community center, FREE of charge. Together we will help your kids create fun-filled props or costumes to use as they re-enact dramatic or dynamic scenes from the world’s most famous operas! |
