OPERAtion HQ: Establishing a Home in the new House
The campaign to build a permanent home for the administrative offices of The Dallas Opera is a unique opportunity for each member of the Opera family to contribute to the construction of the Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House and the long-term health of the company. Not only will the campaign support actual construction, but funds will also be used to create an operating endowment to offset occupancy costs, such as utilities and maintenance. These items support future financial stability by eliminating office rent expenses and supplementing operating costs.

It Makes Sense
Beyond the long-term financial advantages of eliminating annual rental expenses, having both the performance and administrative sides of the company in the same building streamlines daily operations and improves overall efficiency. Fund raising is greatly enhanced when a donor visits an organization with all functions under the same roof. Imagine attending an Opera business meeting, and on your way to the conference room, hearing singers warming up, peeking inside the auditorium to see sets being installed, and passing the rehearsal hall while the orchestra fine tunes a phrase. Investors will see – and hear – their dollars at work and appreciate a fully integrated performing arts organization.

Commitment to Dallas Center for the Performing Arts for Office Construction The Dallas Opera has committed to raise funds equal to the projected cost of constructing the core and shell for the offices which is $3,485,316. An additional $1,000,000 is projected for design, finish-out and moving expenses, for a total of $4.5 million. Funds raised in excess of the $4.5 million will provide the nucleus of a new operating endowment to support the Opera’s occupancy costs in the Winspear.
